Our Mission Print
The Partnership for Food Safety Education is committed to educating consumers on the four simple practices they can use to fight foodborne bacteria (BAC!) and reduce their risk of becoming sick. The Fight BAC!® campaign makes the messages accessible to everyone through positive, upbeat and empowering messages:
  • Information and graphics are consumer-tested, based on science and easy to follow. They bring Americans face-to-face with the problem of foodborne illness and motivate them to take action.
  • Public opinion research and expert scientific and technical review are used to develop the messages which reach consumers through mass media, public service announcements, the Internet, point-of-purchase, and school and community initiatives.
  • A national network -- consisting of public health, nutrition, food science, education and special constituency groups -- helps expand the reach of our message to all Americans.

fightbac.org, the website of the Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE), is your resource for Fight BAC! food safety and safe food handling campaign information.

The Partnership for Food Safety Education unites representatives from industry associations, professional societies in food science, nutrition and health consumer groups, the United States Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration in an important initiative to educate the public about safe food handling practices needed to keep food safe from bacteria and prevent foodborne illness.
