INTERNSHIP Spring and Summer 2020; Arlington, VA

The non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education seeks an on-site intern/volunteer for Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 with an interest in the ways government, industry, and health and consumer groups work together to educate the public about safe food handling and reducing risk of foodborne illness.

The Partnership is creator and steward of Fight BAC!®, a consumer education platform developed using scientifically based recommendations and resulting from an extensive consumer research process. Fight BAC!® materials are accessible at and utilized by U.S. consumers, teachers, dietitians, public health officials and extension agents.

Area Your Contribution
Social Media Assist in drafting social media posts.  Participate in strategy discussions on social platforms and metrics.
Research Assistance Review research and develop communications and outreach ideas from it.  Compile research sources.  Assist with evaluation planning.
Ambassadors and Community Engagement Assist in the build-out of a new ambassadors program. Assist with communications and preparation for events.
Marketing Assistance Support building the PFSE brand.  Hone skills in marketing and contribute to strengthening relationships with and among U.S. food safety and health stakeholders.


Applicants should be current graduate students or recent graduates.   Ideal candidates have an interest in public health, food safety, and/or marketing communications. Candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Strong research and writing skills are a must.  Some administrative tasks are required of interns and, indeed, of all PFSE full-time staff.  A MINIMUM TOTAL COMMITMENT OF 150 HOURS IS REQUIRED.  A small stipend to cover housing and transportation costs is provided.
